CREATIVE WRITING
Week 1: Grades 5 - 8
Week 2: Grades 7 - 12

Limited to 12 participants each week

“Creativity is...seeing something that doesn't exist already. You need to find out how you can bring it into being and that way be a playmate with God.” – Michele Shea

God created us in His image – and one major way we reflect His image is in our ability to create. In this class, we will explore using words in new and creative ways – poetry, drama, short stories, song lyrics. Daily writing exercises will aim to inflame the creative spark in each participant, with one piece, in the literary form of the participant’s choosing, carefully crafted for presentation by the end of the week.

Instructor ~ Frederick Richardson (writer, pastor)

From New York to Chicago to Nashville, Freddy has worked in the entertainment industry as a vocalist, an actor, a director, and a writer. Since honing his writing skills and earning degrees from Yale and the University of the South, his works have appeared in books, magazines, commercials, and decades of recording projects. Now serving as the pastor of New Hope Lutheran Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, he brings a spiritual insight and maturity to his writing that speak to the heart of our very human longings.
